The Saptarishis (seven sages) and Manu Vaivasvata are the divine ancestors of mankind. The last born son of Sage Kashyapa and Goddess Aditi, Martanda (Vivasvat or the Sun) commences the human race through his son, King Manu Vaivasvata.
